Neighborhood Rooted

What We Do

We show up consistently in Detroit’s 48214—building relationships, meeting practical needs, and walking alongside our neighbors over time.

We are not driven by programs or quick fixes,

but by presence and relationship.

How We Show Up

IMG_6048.png

Street Care

We meet immediate needs with dignity and consistency.

Each week, we show up in the neighborhood offering hot meals, hygiene supplies, seasonal essentials, and space for conversation, prayer, and connection.

Street Care is not just about meeting needs—it is about being known and building trust.

Through a local partnership, meals are prepared and provided—freeing us to focus on showing up consistently and building relationships with our neighbors.

Pathways

As relationships deepen, some neighbors express readiness for next steps.

Pathways is how we walk with them.

This often includes:

  • navigating housing options

  • connecting to recovery programs

  • job readiness and employment support

  • accessing healthcare or public benefits

  • spiritual mentorship and discipleship

We don’t rush this process. It grows out of trust and is shaped by each person’s readiness.

We walk with a small number of individuals intentionally—so support can remain consistent, relational, and sustained over time.

Why This Matters

In the 48214 neighborhood:

39% of homes are vacant

36.4% of residents live below the poverty line

Resources exist across Detroit, but many neighbors:

don’t know about them
can’t access them
or don’t have someone to walk with them through the process

We believe the gap is not just services.
It is consistent, relational support.

Our Focus

We intentionally serve a small geographic area so we can:

  • return to the same blocks
  • build real relationships
  • and walk with the same people over time

This allows trust to grow—and trust is what makes lasting change possible.

What This Looks Like (2026)

30–40

4–6

2–3

individuals engaged weekly through street outreach

individuals walking in deeper, ongoing support

individuals moving toward long-term stability through trusted partnerships

We keep the numbers small on purpose—so the relationships can be real, consistent, and sustained.

How We Work

We are:

  • relationship-first, not program-first
  • present, not transactional
  • long-term, not event-driven

We walk alongside our neighbors, helping bridge the gap between people and the resources already available.

The Heart Behind It

We believe every person carries God-given dignity.

So we:
- learn names
- return consistently
- listen before acting
- and walk at the pace of trust

Because transformation doesn’t happen through one moment.
It happens through relationship over time.
